Try to keep in mind the activities we are engaged in are not to just take up time, but are ultimately trying to help develop the thinking and skills to be more effective in your interactions in this life. These lessons are supposed to be taken forward with you as you go about your life. If you view them as such, you may end up getting more out of the class!
Which of the 7 (really 8...see last week's announcements) habits will you work on first?  Will you choose a personal habit from 1-3 or an interpersonal one from 4-6?  Or will you sharpen the saw with 7?  What will you do to take your leadership journey forward?
Action Steps:   Incorporate the habits with leadership online (Week 5)...as in all things these days, there is an app to help your live the habits.  The app is free and is called Living the 7 Habits.  If you on Twitter, follow @stephenrcovey and/or @livingthe7habit.
In Stephen Covey published a follow-up book to "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" called "The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness."  Habit 8 is about using the 7 habits as a the foundation to find your voice and inspire others to find theirs.  Covey says that to you will find for your voice when you love what you do and you are comfortable with the 3 gifts you were born with:  the gift of freedom to choose, the gift of positive consequences for behavior, and the gift of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual intelligence.  Once you find your voice, you can achieve leadership greatness by modeling the 7 habits, continuing find your path, align your vision, and empower others to do the same.
Covey created the 8th habit to help what he calls the "information/knowledge worker."
“Do you believe that the Information/Knowledge Worker Age we’re moving into will outproduce the Industrial Age fifty times? I believe it will. We’re just barely beginning to see it…Nathan Myhrvold, former chief technology officer at Microsoft, puts it this way: ‘The top software developers are more productive than average software developers not by a factor of 10X or 100X or even 1000X but by 10,000X.’ Quality knowledge work is so valuable that unleashing its potential offers organizations an extraordinary opportunity for value creation.”
