Today's Assignment:
  • Module 4 Lesson 2 Assignment
Module 4 Lesson 2 Assignment - Adventures in Leadership
This assignment allows you to be creative while you showcase your understanding of integrity. Your practice activity yesterday asked you to identify and offer examples of the top 5 integrity principles you think a leader should exemplify.  Today you will roll those top 5 into a superleader's story.  Use the template to plan your comic.  Remember to focus on leadership as you plan -- align your story with how your superhero grew his/her integrity.  Be careful not to get too caught up in the side stories.  You will be creating at least 4 panels so be sure your panels have enough information to clearly tell how your superhero became a leader with integrity. Once you have planned your comic, create your comic using the free tool called Storyboardthat. Use the directions in the assignment to get you started.  Here are a few tips to combat any problems you may have:
Content - Your job is to tell the story of a leader modeling integrity.  Use the pre-planning template to plan your comic - remember to post it along with your comic.  Choose 5 integrity principles from Lesson 1 and then offer specific examples of each integrity principle as it relates to leadership.  Remember to fully explain your examples by offering actions/behaviors. Then plan your comic frames using what you brainstormed on the template.  If you need to use more than 4 frames, go for it! The original design of 4 frames was to include one frame with the backstory and 3 frames about the principles (1 frame per principle).  You should NOT do the following:
  • Do NOT create a comic about a hero saving the day.  You are creating a comic to illustrate your understanding of how integrity relates to being a great leader.
  • Do NOT create a comic with only a few words or with no words at all.  The text is necessary to tell your story but more importantly, it is necessary to show your understanding of the lesson.
  • Do NOT steal an idea from a movie or another comic - be original.
Technology - The comic is supposed to be a representation of your content knowledge.  As the rubric states, I am looking to see that you understand leadership and integrity - I want to see that you understand the Lesson 1 notes.  With your pre-planning posted along with your comic, I can see your understanding more clearly. Do not let the technology part of the assignment overwhelm you -- be a superleader and overcome! Storyboardthat.com (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. is easy to use (be sure to follow the directions in the assignment) but feel free to use an alternative as you are still presenting a comic about a leader with integrity.  Examples include:
  • Draw a comic on paper and post screenshots of it
  • Create a comic using PowerPoint/GoogleSlides/etc. - consider each slide to be a frame
Need inspiration?  Integrity is the backbone of leadership. In today's world, it is not easy to be a leader with integrity. From social media to television and movies, our culture celebrates dishonesty and deceit. To be a leader, you have to recognize what is real and what is fictional. Today's assignment gives you the chance to do that by creating your own superleader and showing how he/she models integrity. It is your turn to offer our culture an alternative to the dishonesty and deceit that is often celebrated today.
