Module 7 Lesson 2 Assignment - Create Your Own Decision-Making Process
You have explored decision-making concepts and looked at how others have made decisions in the past. Now it is time for you to create your own process!  Think about what you have learned this week (being proactive, dealing with bias, etc.) as well as what you know about goal-setting in general. Design a decision-making model (there is a guide in your notes) that includes the steps you need to take as a leader to make decisions - consider what you need to include to make sure you make a good leadership decision. You can use an application online that you are familiar with or you may draw it by hand and upload screenshots. Think through the steps carefully and you will create something that you and other leaders can use in the future!  Use the tips for making a flowchart at https://www.smartdraw.com/flowchart/flowchart-tips.htm.
Need more information?  Making decisions is not easy but practice does make permanent. If you apply a process, that process will become second-nature to you and you will make a better decision.  As you create a decision-making model that fits your needs today, consider the suggestions in the article by Neil Grant called "Making the Best Leadership Decisions." Grant says that decision-making skills are both innate and learned - in other words, he agrees with the trait theory as well as the contingency theory.  He goes on to introduce WRAP, a decision-making pneumonic created by Chip and Dan Heath.  Read about the WRAP tool by clicking on the image below.  How can you apply WRAP to your own decision-making model?
