Today's Assignments:
  • Module 5 Lesson 2 Notes - Check Your Knowledge
  • Module 5 Lesson 2 Practice Activity
Module 5 Lesson 2 Notes - Check Your Knowledge
Lesson 2 is Connecting with Others. The topics for notes include the following: Relationships, What is a Relationship?, As a leader, how important are relationships?, As a leader, how do you build relationships?, and As a leader, which relationships should you value most? As a leader, how can you connect with others?  Be sure to read the directions before you go through the notes. Guided notes are recommended to help you process the content. Feel free to attach them when you post your CYK results. After taking the CYK, screenshot your results along with the last question so that it is clear which quiz you took.
Module 5 Lesson 2 Practice Activity - Types of Relationships
To help you process the types of relationships you learn about in Lesson 2 notes, you will complete a template that asks you to identify each relationship type and to offer a specific leadership strategy for dealing with each type.  You must explain what relationship types have to do with leadership.  Tips:
  • Remember that leadership is your focus. Your response to a relationship type as a leader may be different than your response in daily life.  For example, in daily life, you may avoid naysayers but as a leader, you have to deal with them at some point. So what can you do as a leader to make that interaction better for you and for the naysayer?
  • Reference the content notes.  Use strategies from the notes:  be an investor, make educated investments, think others first, focus on the investment, and initiate the investment.  Then explain each strategy as it relates to the relationship type and dilemma.
  • Post quality answers.  The purpose of your assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the lesson and this module's topic of leading with relationships. Be sure your answers offer enough evidence to show your understanding of the text or the topic. A good rule of thumb is to answer each question fully with 2-3 complete sentences, details, and examples. Offer evidence from the lesson, your life, and/or the real world to back up your ideas.
Need More Information?
Lesson 2 explores relationships and leadership.  As you explore the types of relationships leaders have in the face-to-face world, consider how leadership translates to the online world of social media. If you are struggling with understanding the relationship types f2f, it may help you to consider how they work online.  Leadership online involves being proactive about what you share on social media.  When it comes to the internet, it is important to remember that anything you put out there is going to be there permanently.  You should apply the same rules to the online world that you apply to the face-to-face world:
  • Think before you speak. It may be easier for some people to express feelings and ideas when you are not sitting in front of someone, however, ask yourself if you would say those same things to someone sitting in front of you.  You may feel anonymous, but you are not.  Read everything again before you hit submit or send.  Which strategy from the notes does this rule remind you to follow?
  • Avoid oversharing.  Everything you post becomes public knowledge and can be found by parents, employers, and those wishing to harm you.  Would you want your grandmother (or the person you most respect) to read that post or see that picture of you? Which strategy from the notes does this rule remind you to follow?
  • Be kind. Just like when you comment on a classmate's post in weekly discussion forums, social media interactions should be positive and uplifting.  Make sure what you post and what you comment is supportive and not defeating. Remember your audience and be respectful. Which strategy from the notes does this rule remind you to follow?
