Module 1 continues and is due Monday, August 20 by midnight.  If you have followed my lead, you will meet that deadline without any trouble and NOT have to spend your weekend catching up!  On Monday I will open Module 2 so you can start working - for the rest of the semester, the upcoming modules will open sooner.
Got Tech Issues?  Technology is wonderful and awful...sometimes at the same time. We use lots of applications in our course. Why? Leadership is about trying new things and expanding your exposure to using technology to lead. When you use a new application, it is important to problem-solve and to persevere - do not give up just because something is an obstacle. Try each application. In addition to the tutorials linked in the assignments, I will post tips and how-to's in the Daily Announcements.  If an application does not work with your school's firewall or your computer, contact me and I will offer solutions and/or alternative applications.  When I cannot solve the problem, the NCVPS Virtual Support Center is the next resource.  Use the directions at https://www.smore.com/p9yt3-got-tech-issues to help you issue a help desk ticket.
Got Online Firsts? Today you will create your first Prezi for our course. Prezi is an amazing FREE presentation application. Use the directions here as well as the tutorial posted in the assignment to create your leadership roadmap. Once you create a Prezi account and click "Create a New Presentation," search for the maps and/or roadmaps templates. Chose the one that fits your personality.  Then fill in the template with your ideas - pay close attention to what the directions and the rubric ask you to include at each "stop" or part of your Prezi.  If you do not use an element of the template, be sure to delete it so that it is not visible in your final presentation (ex. <Insert Title Here>).  When you are ready to post your Prezi, click on share to get the link to your Prezi. Copy and paste that link into the submission text box. If you know how to, feel free to embed your Prezi presentation -- if you want to learn how to do so, let me know and I will show you.
Got Questions? I was available for a Virtual Classroom last night from 7-8 pm.  To watch the archived recording, go to https://ncvps.adobeconnect.com/pva250qsp9xy.  Topics include the ABCs of Leadership Development along with lots of tips for success.  After watching, send me a 3-2-1:

Today's Assignment:
  • Module 1 Lesson 2 Assignment - Leadership Roadmap
Module 1 Lesson 2 Assignment - Leadership Roadmap
In yesterday's Module 1 Lesson 2 Practice Activity, you completed a reflection of your strengths/weaknesses and set two SMART/CLEAR leadership goals to help you improve one strength and one weakness.  Today you are going to use one of those leadership goals to build a Leadership Roadmap.  Creating a leadership roadmap is equivalent to creating an action plan for your leadership journey. Now that you have leadership goals, what actions do you need to take to achieve it?  The roadmap or action plan lays out the specific steps you will take, the resources you will use, and the support system you will use/build to help you reach your SMART/CLEAR leadership goal.  Use the resources in my feedback and what you have learned so far in Module 1 to help you identify steps to move you towards your goal.  As you map out the specific steps, you will refer to your strengths/weaknesses, your core values, and your understanding of the leadership skills you need to sharpen to make your leadership goal a reality.  Use the assignment directions and the rubric to help you with each step. The leadership roadmap you create now will be what you follow throughout the semester - future modules/assignments ask you to refer back to your leadership goals and assess how you are growing as a leader.  Take the time to do this leadership roadmap well so that it is easy to follow and easy to reference.  Use the Prezi information in the inform section above and the Got Citations? smore at https://www.smore.com/fgawh-got-citations to help you - leaders use their resources!
