Week 5 begins today!  It is due Wednesday however please contact me if you are unable to meet that deadline.  I understand summer (especially as I post this announcement from Ft. Myers!).

I am still in Florida but am still available if you have questions -- text me using Remind or my number 919-435-2008.  If I do not reply, it means I do not have wifi -- I will get back to you in the evening.  I will do my best to get Weeks 3 and 4 graded with feedback ASAP.  I have not had as much free time as I expected to grade your assignments -- thank you in advance for your understanding.

Welcome to Week 5!  This week you will be exploring leadership resources that are available online.  I try to share online resources for each assignment -- have you been reading my feedback in the gradebook?  Former students who have taken the time to use those resources agree that the feedback enriches their experience.  If you have not been reading the gradebook feedback, go back and take a look.  Remember that leadership is a process!
Here are tips for completing Week 5 work:
Goldsmith Articles 5.1 - This assignment requires you to read 2 articles and to post 2 questions/answers in response to those 2 articles.  Marshall Goldsmith is an authority on coaching managers so that they become great leaders.  He is known for helping people change their behaviors so that they positively impact their own lives as well as the lives of those around them. You will go to the Marshall Goldsmith website link provided in the assignment and choose 2 articles that speak to your specific leadership needs.  Be sure to explore the articles and chose 2 that will help build your leadership skills -- avoid choosing the first article because it is the first one.  Consider reviewing your leadership and relationship styles from weeks 2 and 3 before you choose your articles.  Once you choose your articles, preview the 5 questions and then read the articles.  Think about your answers.  Please post the answers to each article as 2 separate lesson posts.  Each post should FULLY answer the questions and show that you read and understand the article.  Each post should be at least 200 words (the questions do not count as part of your length requirement).
How We Waste Time - You will create a padlet on how we waste time.  I recommend reviewing your Week 4 Test of Time presentation before you begin your padlet -- it was designed as a pre-cursor to this assignment.  Which of the rules for choosing the most important things to do first affect how we waste time? Consider specific lessons/tests that could help the biggest time wasters today.  Your padlet could even take the direction of a PSA -- Public Service Announcement.  Be sure you read the instructions on how to create and how to post your padlet.
Melville Journal 5.3 - When you plan your 150-word response to the Melville quote, remember to read the prompt:  do you agree with this quote? how does the internet affect leadership?  Use what you have learned during the week to help you write a well-developed journal response.  Remember to include this week's vocabulary in your reflection.

Before posting any of your assignments, ask yourself the following questions:
a. Did I follow all instructions?
b. Did I completely answer the questions?
c. Do I clearly reflect that I understand and am thinking about the topic?  Did I use any weekly vocab?
d. Do I clearly reflect that I am applying the topic to my life--asking questions, giving examples, etc.?

Way to go, Diego!  He referenced the announcements in his Week 3 journal entry!  Awesome job connecting the concepts!
Way to go, Parker!  He posted a quality reply to his classmate in the Week 3 discussion!  Of course I wouldn't expect anything less from an ENTJ!
