Now that the semester is quickly coming to an end, it may be tempting to skip steps. Don't do that! Check out these tips for going through the lessons:
- Remember that the notes you read in our course are our textbook -- when you read, read it with meaning. Take notes on the guided notes template. When you write down something you learn, it helps you remember it.
- Pre-read the directions and the rubric so you know what to look for as you go through the lessons.
- Make connections to your life as you go through lessons -- if an example or phrase speaks to you, use it to help you complete your assignments.
- Remember to look for the weekly vocabulary in the lessons as well. They always show up in your post-assessment!

Use these tips to help you complete the template:
Part 1
- Use traits from our course such as Integrity, Discipline, Perseverance, Commitment, Empowering, Communication, Confidence, Empathy, Creativity, Delegate, and Reflection.
- Explain each trait as it relates to that local government position.
- Remember to keep up with your resources.
Part 2
- Be sure to explain each community service/need in detail.
- Take the time to look around and find the community service - what are people doing to help others? Then analyze what your community is missing and offer at least 3 examples of possible community services - you will need these for your Lesson Assignment. In essence, this activity asks you to do a community needs assessment. To learn more about assessing community needs, click on the image below:
