Module 6 Lesson 2 Assignment - Introduction to a Leader Speech
There is no better way to become a better public speaker and leader than to practice writing and giving a speech. This assignment asks you to write an introductory speech that shares something about yourself that others do may not know about you.

Tips:

• Your speech should include the speech format from Lesson 2 Notes - review the rubric to be sure you include everything (i.e. hook, closing)
• Choose a written element from your favorite song, a quote you like, a poem, etc. to include - the element you chose should add to your speech (remember what you learned in the notes about "bling"). 
• The directions for recording your speech via Canvas are in the assignment but feel free to use another recording application with which you may be more comfortable. A great one to try is https://online-voice-recorder.com/. You can also use your phone and record it as an mp3 or even record using a video application.

Think about people you enjoy hearing speak. What is it that pulls you into their story or the idea they are sharing? Do they tell stories with great animation? Do they present great unknown ideas? Or do they simply get right to the point? While you are writing your speech for Lesson 2, think about leaders in your life or leaders you have watched on TV give speeches or even tell stories and try to pinpoint why you like hearing them speak. When you write your speech, try and replicate the ideas or practices they use.  How can public speaking help leaders connect with their audiences?  According to Tal Shnall from Leadership Hospitality, public speaking "gives you a platform to share and enroll people into a cause."  Read about how leaders deliver on public speaking by reading an article from Forbes.
