Got resources? Check out the following NCVPS Resources at www.ncvps.org by clicking on the resources visual below:
- It is interesting that failure actually led Vincent Van Gogh to be an artist. He tried being a teacher, a minister, and an art dealer before he began painting. Check out more little-known facts about Van Gogh at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/07/29/vincent-van-gogh-trivia_n_6181630.html. (Links to an external site.)
- Walt Disney suffered financial setbacks before he found success. He lost millions of dollars trying to create his empire. But it was the internal obstacles that were the most difficult to handle - suffered from depression and fits of rage. If only we saw our hero's failures each time we saw the successes, we would see our own failures as growth.
- Albert Einstein experienced the obstacle of self-doubt. In elementary school, he was not a great student because he did not fit the standards for academic success during his time. He did not like to memorize things and had issues with language mechanics. Both teachers and students called him names and characterized him as "slow." After years of being treated poorly, he found his calling when he came across an Algebra book. The rest is history...and a great example of a leader overcoming an internal obstacle.
- Module 9 Lesson 2 Notes/CYK
- Module 9 Lesson 2 Practice Activity
Thank you for posting a screenshot that includes identifying information - I need to see which quiz you took. Be sure to read my feedback if you completed the Lesson 2 notes early.
Module 9 Lesson 2 Practice Activity
As you did for your Lesson 1 Practice Activity, refer back to the notes before writing your reflection. How can you use the information about fear of failure, anxiety, stress, etc. to show you understand the notes? Discussing an internal obstacle can be more difficult than discussing an external one - remember that only I will see your post.
