Many Americans identify leaders as those that are in charge of or in front of groups and/or organizations. Now that you have learned more about leadership, you know that leadership is not based on position but on mindset and action. Lesson 1 introduces you to well-known American leaders as well as those who are not. When you study leaders, remember to apply the leadership traits and styles you have learned and not just look at fame or notorieity. Take a look at The Atlantic's list of the 100 most influential American leaders of all time by clicking on the visual below. Notice that these leaders were chosen with leadership concepts in mind and not just popularity.

Module 8 Lesson 2 Practice Activity
To showcase your knowledge of some American leaders, you will create a timeline that includes the individuals you learned about in Lesson 2. Use the web tool at Read, Write, Think to create your timeline. Make sure your timeline is in chronological order and that each leader has a written explanation of his/her most significant leadership accomplishment. As always, you are focused on leadership concepts and not just historical concepts. The directions explain how to submit your timeline, but if needed you can take and post a screenshot of your completed timeline.
