Got frustration? It seems ToonDoo is not compatible with some district computers and is causing quite a headache! Normally I ask you to push through (adversity builds leadership character!) but since two of your assignments for this module involve making comics, let's regroup.
Frustration #1 - Content
Lesson 1 Assignment - Your job is to tell the story of a leader with integrity.  Complete and post the pre-planning template (even though it says it is optional, it will help your grade if you do!).  As you did for your practice activity, offer specific examples of how your leader shows the principles you are showcasing.  Then plan your comic frames using what you brainstormed on the template.  If you need to use more than 4 frames, go for it! The original design of 4 frames was to include one frame with the backstory and 3 frames about the principles (1 frame per principle).  You should not do the following:
  • Create a comic about a hero saving the day.  Instead of superhero, think of your character as "SUPERLEADER."
  • Create a comic with only a few words or with no words at all.  The text is necessary to tell your superleader's story but more importantly, it is necessary to show your understanding of the lesson.
Lesson 2 Assignment - Your job is to tell the story of how your superleader's integrity was challenged. Just as you described a challenge to integrity you faced in the practice activity, brainstorm a challenge to your superleader's integrity. What fits his/her character?  Complete and post the pre-planning template (again...it says it is optional but it is really helpful when I grade!). Then follow the same gameplan as you did in Lesson 1. Offer a frame about the challenge and then 3 frames about how the superleader overcame the challenge. Follow the same "do not's" from above.
Frustration #2 - Technology
The comic is supposed to be a representation of your content knowledge.  As the rubrics state, I am looking to see that you understand leadership and integrity - I want to see that you understand the Lesson 2 notes.  With your pre-planning posted along with your comic, I can see your understanding more clearly. Do not let the technology part of the assignment overwhelm you -- be a superleader and overcome! Feel free to use an alternative to ToonDoo as long as you are still presenting a comic about a leader with integrity.  Examples include:
  • Storyboardthat.com
  • Draw a comic on paper and post screenshots of it
  • Create a comic using PowerPoint/GoogleSlides/etc. - consider each slide to be a frame
And just in case you think either of these assignments cannot be completed, check out this AWESOME Lesson 1 comic done by a fellow student about Superhero/leader Honde (check out does not mean copy or steal):
